Bentonite clay love story
I’ve been in contact with clay for as long as I can remember. My mom would always keep a pack around and use it for anything that needed fixing; different wounds, fever, insect bites, bee stings, rashes, burns, sore throat, bruises, acne when I was a teenager. The thing with clay that I’ve come to realize is that it gets worse after you start using it at first, but that’s how the process evolves. It gets better later on, I just had to stick with it. Nowadays we all want everything fast and now, but nature takes time; so I’m trying to work all this into my lifestyle, taking it slowly and one baby step at the time. My point: if you want instant miracles, the natural way is probably not the way to do it.
What is bentonite clay?
Bentonite, also known as Montmorillonite, is one of the most powerful healing clays. This type of clay can be used externally and internally. Just make sure that the clay is a grey or a cream color. Bentonite clay and its attributes
Clay is an effective mean of cleansing your body:
- It promotes the elimination of the toxins and heavy metals from the body.
- It activates the general body detox.
- It cleanses the colon, improves digestion.
- It has a beneficial influence on our skin.
- It helps to preserve energy and well-being.
The only thing to keep in mind when dealing with clay is that it should not come in contact with metal, therefore always take it from the package with a wooden (plastic) spoon.
Bentonite clay internal detox
Drink clay powder every day for 21 days. Stop for a week and repeat the procedure. You can repeat this detox two to three times a year. I have and I felt great doing it. I’ll probably repeat it in the autumn again.
Take a spoon of clay, mix in with 2 dl water and leave it either overnight or over the day. You can prepare it in the morning and drink it before you go to bed. Or, you prepare it in the evening and drink it in the morning. Keep in mind though that you shouldn’t eat 30 minutes after you drink clay. If you need to get to work and normally eat breakfast and don’t have too much time, maybe you should go with the evening session. I surely did. Ina case you’re constipated, drink it in the night, otherwise in the morning is fine.
- I’ve read that drinking clay supposedly causes constipation, but with me, it was just the other way around (my daily toilet routine improved a lot!).
- you may experience some pain, headaches or other effects of drinking clay (I didn’t), but only because you’re actually trying to cleanse your body and clay has the tendency of sticking to the problematic areas. Hence the pain.
- I generally felt good: there was no more feeling of being bloated, no skin breakouts, no rashes.
A thing to keep in mind: it is not advised for the following groups of people to try the clay powder detox treatment: people who take any sort of medicine. Pregnant women, nursing women and kids younger than 6 years.
Bentonite clay leg detox
Last month I wrote a post about my clay powder leg and feet detox, just when I started the treatment. I also need to tell you that I’ve concluded it. The procedure was very simple:
Every night, I added a handful of clay powder to a bucket of hot (as hot as I could handle) water. I soaked them in for 10 minutes, rinsed the clay off. I used horse chestnut based cream from A. Vogel; I applied the lotion on the legs (knee down) and went to bed.
The results: the feeling itself was great, hot water, resting legs and a nice lotion that softened the hard skin on heels I tend to get every now and then. In the long run, however, my legs still ache so it must be something else. So I’ve come to the conclusion that it’s just me since my sister has done the same treatment and she was very satisfied with the results: she said her legs didn’t feel heavy, they were rejuvenated, fresh and relaxed. Also, the hard skin on heels was gone. So now I’m thinking, if your legs are generally tired and don’t ache all the time, this is definitely a thing to try. At least you take 15 minutes a day just for yourself, to contemplate or relax in peace.

We’ve all had our share of acne, except for a few rare girls that have the fairest skin. And nurturing acne on my face, well, you know it’s not the most appealing thing ever. In order to resolve the problem, I decided to try the bentonite clay mask:

I applied it to my face and left it on for 20 minutes or until the mask got dry. Then I washed it off gently. Afterward, I applied my homemade natural skin serum since clay dried my skin (pulling all the bad stuff from it) and lived happily ever after. The serum is soothing and calming. I love it!
The results: my skin felt great, I felt great, life was good again. I believe I repeated the procedure twice a week for about a month. I kept repeating the treatment in case the situation got worse in between.
